NZ
promotes itself as “100% Pure” with a focus on its nature and the outdoor life.
Fern
trees, temperate rainforests, pine trees – woodland that stretches for miles
and miles and miles. Sadly, much of the rainforest is not virgin, having
originally been felled by Victorian European settlers - however, despite the
fact that much of mature forests have had to be replanted, it’s a sight to
behold.
Spectacular
waterfalls; the gorges and mountains of the Gates of Haast; Queen Charlotte
Sound (named by Cook after the wife of George III) - both to sail up on the
ferry from the North Island and to look down upon on a wonderful evening’s
drive out from Picton. The snow-capped mountains of Mt Aspiring national park and the Dart River; the
Desert Road in the Tongariro National Park, North Island; Pancake Rocks at Punakaiki.
